K-12 Resource Materials & Presentations
As part of cultural enhancement, ITBC continues the educational efforts through presentations to schools, Tribes and groups wanting to learn more about buffalo and ITBC's buffalo restoration efforts.
ITBC receives a large number of inquiries from students (K-12 & college students) along with the general public each year. Most inquiries are for historical/cultural and/or biological reports; we provide information and other contacts. To further this effort ITBC has developed an interactive CD-ROM, coloring books and activity sheets for K-12 resource materials.
Buffalo Box Demonstrations
The Buffalo Box, a raw hide container with the hair on the outside, allows ITBC to take the buffalo to the audience for them to physically touch, see and smell items made from the buffalo. Items such as: hooves, bladder bag, quill pouch, bone toys, painting tools, brain tanned hide remnants, a bone awl, and other pertinent items, are made available for the students to study. Many parts of the animal were indigenously replicated today to educate students of all ages as to the importance of the buffalo through the generations of many North American Tribes.
